My First Classroom

Looking to create a calming space for your students? Here is what I did to create my first classroom where my students felt at peace.

This post is all about my first classroom.

classroom setup

After spending some time researching the science of color psychology, I discovered which colors promoted learning, calmness, and helped reduce stress and anxiety in students, I decided on an “Under the Sea” theme for my classroom. I focused mainly on blues, purples, greens, and obviously had to have my yellow and orange for my submarine. I spent hours searching Pinterest saving any ideas I found to be useful to create the perfect classroom.

Throughout the summer, I made my vision come to life. I handmade most of my decorations, including the jellyfish pictured here, an octopus, and a submarine word wall. My goal was to create a calming environment, free of clutter, for my students to thrive. See More Pics Here
